I'm a pretty diehard Pokemon fan (always have been, probably always will be), but ever since it came out I have not been able to play through ORAS. Is there any way I can make my playthrough more entertaining, possible less generic as well?

Side note, is there a place I could find Ghastly?

Along with the usuals like turning off Switch and Exp Share, I decided to do a "shitmon" run.

I went onto Smogon and went to the RU tier, then saw which of the pokemon there I liked. Those 6 became my team members.

I know we all hate Smogon, but it felt more lenient to use their tiers to not pick pokemon that will be too strong, as opposed to saying "No Megas, Legendaries or Pseudos" which omits not-very-good pokemon like Mega Pidgeot and Regirock.
It was fun to use mons like Shiftry, Huntail, and Dustox for once, I've always liked their designs.

said, doing a monotype or themed runthrough is fun and decently challenging if you pick a good type. I don't want to restart my gen 6 games yet, but I've done a monotype of every gen except 1.

Also stop and smell the roses every now and then. I know too many people who just focus on the gyms and the elite four then do every little mini-game/contest whatever afterwards.

You can keep exp share, just use 10 in your team. Had your problem in my original playthrough too.

Yeah I definitely planned on fucking around with contests this gen. I never did in the originals and regret it because I loved them in DPPt.

I might leave EXP share on because I despise grinding in RPGs, but you never know.

Handicapping yourself with nuzlocke/EXP Share off/using weak things/etc. doesn't hurt either
