yes it has a little to do with its pre-evos, especially the japanese martial theme. but apart from that, the similarities are lost, oshawott and dewott are both bipedal cutsy otters and samurott is a quadruped sea lion. but yes the theme is coherent

I agree with Delphox and Goodra.

I think Gengar is cool, but a little worse that Gastly and Haunter.

I don't like the monkeys, but I can tolerate the preevos and Simisage and Simisear. Simipour is horrible.

I am ok with most cross-gen evolutions.

I don't dislike Dragonite, it's a cool pokemon honestly. I just feel it didn't fit in with Dratini and Dragonaire. And Dratini and Dragonaire are my favorite pokemon so I'm a bit biased.

I can't think of any mons that 'ruined' the evo line, even of mons that I don't like and or hate. The few that I don't like and or hate fit their evo line and I don't like the earlier stages of the line either. For example Bidoof/Bibarel, Krickitot/Kricitune, Buizel/Floatzel, Bronzor/Bronzong. Most mons I didn't like before are beginning to grow on me at least design wise.

Neither are Dewott's. It would waddle like a penguin if we're going by real world anatomy. Samurott can run on all fours and ram into shit or fight on its hind legs like a bear. Nothing outlandish about that.

dewott clearly has knees that its legs bend at in his official art, so it registers that it can run. Samurotts been inward do running like a bear would be weird. Probably why it only jumps around in the anime

Bears have knees too you twit. Samurott's XY animations clearly show it has joints like a terrestrial mammal. Dewott's comically stubby legs are not fit for bipedal running anymore than an actual otter's. It's just as "weird" for it to run on two as Samurott.

Are you fucking blind? Samurott isn't built like that at all. Its feet are not flippers fused at the tail, it clearly has large complete legs. Its skeletal structure is much closer to a bear than a seal.

Dragonair has more in common with Dragonite than it does Gyarados and how the fuck does a Magikarp evolve into Dragonite?

Look at Dragonair's head, it's exactly the same as Dragonite's in terms of shape. It's just the body that changes.

Thematically Dragonair and Gyarados have nothing in common.

The problem is his knees aren't consistent. One is clearly higher that the other because it isn't covered by armor while the other is. It looks like the whole back legs hip rotation was broken to ring the leg forward and down with the knee join move higher up.

I feel like if we have to go to this much work to explain samurott it's not a good design in the line. Personally I think if he was stand alone I would've used him but something about him coming from dewott ruins both the line and samurott

Probably Rhyperior. I slowly came around to all the cross gen evos of 4 but I still struggle to like it.

Rhyperior is probably GF's most regrettable cross evo. Rhydon was the first Pokemon designed. If they didn't make Rhyperior, they could have easily gave Rhydon a Mega Evolution.
