Is it me or the number of disgusting artificial pokemon have increased lately?
Sure there were a few in Gen I, but then they thankefully gave up this disgusting concept in Gen II, III and IV
Then it went back full force since Gen V
Are they trying to appeal to kids with EpiKk CaWl RobOts?

Gen III had artificial Pokemon.

Baltoy/Claydol are clay figures made by ancient people that came to life.

Castform was created by the Weather Institute to help them predict the weather.

Banette is a plush doll that was thrown away and became a Pokemon.

Deoxys is a space virus that became a Pokemon when it got hit with a laser beam.

What did Gen 5 have besides Genesect?

The shit I'm thinking of when I think of Gen 5 Pokemon are like, Lilligant, Volcanion, Bisharp, Braviary, Hydreigon, Chandelure, and Vanilluxe. Last ones aren't even man made. I'm pretty sure Gear isn't either.

Trubbish and Garbodor aren't man made. They're a result of mankind's pollution, but they're industrial waste chemical stuff. That's like saying the Hulk's powers are man made compared to Iron Man.

Forgot about Golurk, so you're right on that. That's only 2 out of 152 Pokemon though.

Is that not supposed to be the case? The whole point of Porygon's individuality in Gen 1 was being one of the only man made Pokemon. If you include that definition for Trubbish, then Grimer and Voltorb and more are in Gen 1.

You can include things like Golurk, Baltoy, and stuff, since their histories specifically say man-made and they're Golems, they're specifically crafted to be what they are by human hands (or edited to be so in Mewtwo's case) but there really aren't a lot of man made Pokemon, and the whole point of the few is that there's not supposed to be. It's not a loose definition to where you can call any chemical moon accident in some river with no people around the same as literally sculpting a body out of clay using your own hands and bringing it to life with your ancient psychic powers.

Considering the Pokemon World has Machamp's wrestling championship belt and spandex underwear as complete mammalian products of birth, while Magnemite is apparently a 3000+ year old being who existed before we even knew what magnetism was or how screws would work, I'm inclined to say a ghost can take over a candle if it wants to, and that doesn't make it any less of a ghost.

How? Genesect is a modification of an ancient pokemon, not an artificial one.
