Which is your favorite pokemon region? Mine is johto. It's pretty nostalgic, crystal was my first game.

They all have nice things about them, but my favorite is Unova. Yes, the layout may be somewhat simplistic, but it really feels different from the previous ones, and it has a lot of character.

Slightly. The number of new mons that aren't cross gens is pathetically low. It's still one of the weaker dexs in the franchise. Also, you should care about the engine when you have to play through the damn thing.

Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Kanto because of the non-linearity. Sinnoh especially shines around the 3rd-6th gyms, and Hoenn around the 4th-8th. They all have their faults, though

Too many grass + trees routes, way too many caves. Also too many HM-locked routes

Too many HM-locked routes and dungeons, as well as bullshit roadblocks like the entirety of Cerulean-Vermillion areas, or the thirsty guard.

B2W2 Unova is also really good for its non-linearity, but the region is still meh. Johto exacerbates the problems with Sinnoh, but replace HM-locked routes with MORE GRASS + TREES FOR THE PLANT GODS

This must be a new fad.
People haven't complained about the speed of these games until very recently.

Always a new complaint for older pokemon games with each new release.
It seems children will rarely appreciate the legacy created before time.

Yeah of course they were, but its like, no one cared about it at the time. It isn't my favorite generation or anything but it brought the most new and interesting shit to look at before it started to feel bloated and irritating (not that I don't also enjoy playing newer games).
It was designed around that slow engine.

And that slow engine is what threw me off about Pearl. Well, that, and the garbage dex. At least Platinum fixed both of those things.

This isn't true though. I had a huge issue with this in DP especially after Gen 3 which are arguably the fastest moving in the franchise. It was very noticeable. Even back then.

Why is gen III so fucking ugly? Gen I at least has a valid excuse, but if I had to pick out one slice of that image that just doesn't fit in, it would be gen III. The entire tileset is garbage.

tell me about it. The music in LG/FR is lousy sounding as well. The trainer battle music and wild pokemon music are awful.
