In Pokemon White 2 I have every in-game trade Pokemon from Gen III through V, not including Colosseum or the fuckton of trades with Yancy. It's still a fair amount, about a box and a half.

In gen 1 Dux naturally learns agility, sword dance and slash to abuse the broken mechanics. Add the extra exp and teach it fly( or cut if you want) and you got yourself a great pokemon

Rocky from Violet City was always helpful in the first two gyms. At least he would be if they hadn't trolled us with the whole respect system where he won't obey you until after you beat the second gym, at which point he's passed his use by date.

He was the first Onix I had that went on to become a Steelix though, still named Rocky despite no longer being a rock type.

Dux was a true nigga. I used him every time I played Red and Blue. Every single time.
I don't even know why, I just really fucking liked Farfetch'd as a kid. I think part of it was the novelty of using a pokemon no one else used, part the fact the xp boost made him op as fuck, and part I really liked the idea of a bird beating shit with a leek.

I liked the one in Yellow where you could trade something for the guy's Lv. 15 Machoke, which would become a Machamp after the trade. Because of its low level, you could use this Machamp at the Pika Cup in Pokémon Stadium 1 and clean house.

I remember my first Silver run back when I was a kid, I traded for the machop in Goldenrod, think it was named Muscle. Ended up using it through the whole run and it was one of the my better Poke's. My child brain didn't know about the trade exp. boost either so that was cool too. Ever since Machamp has been one of my favorite pokemon.

Thumper is actually really good, actually used it in a nuzlocke and it took just about anything you could throw at it like a champ and dealt fairly good damage in return as well, incredibly useful all the way through the game. Not to mention that you skip Onix entirely and don't have to suffer its garbage Attack stat (seriously, why is it so low). Combine that with an exp boost and you're golden.

Oh yeah, ZAPRONG in XD is really good as well, all three elemental punches along with Cross Chop makes for a really effective starting moveset.

Lilil in Black and Petulia in Black 2 are good too, having a guaranteed Modest/Timid Petilil with a 31 in Sp. Atk is really nice.

Gastly was available to you long before you reach snowpoint though - and Haunter is available in the wild.

Though admittedly it's no real big deal either considering that you can just straight up catch a Gengar no trades needed as long as you had any GBA game in the slot.
