The pink and blue didn't look bad, and I'd hardly say adding some blue and pink lumps on its body is punching you in the gut to get its design basis across. Adding a banana peel or apple core or a soda can would have been too much: the unidentifiable blue and pink shapes are fine.

My argument was that by making a design that doesn't resemble the what the pokemon is supposed to be, you aren't making it better by any means. If a Pokemon is based on trash,it shold resemble trash in some way. The "better" design you made no longer resembled what it was supposed to be at all. You defended it by saying the pre evo and the name would make up for it. I did the exact same thing. So it is no different from yours.
