I just bought Pokémon black and never played a gen 5 game. What am I in for?

Really boring early routes because you only see Purrloin, Lillipup and Patrat. But other than that, lots of fun.

Gen 5 is the best Gen.

While BW2 are superior in terms of gameplay, BW have the best story, and the lack of old Pokemon makes everything feel fresh and exciting. Don't bother with the after game, just jump straight to the sequels after you're done with the main story.

You have so many Pokémon to choose from in Red and Blue. Pidgey, Rattata, Nidoran, Mankey, Spearow, Caterpie, Weedle, Pikachu, ...
In BW1 you literally only have Patrat, Lilipup and Purrloin. Next thing you can get is the elemental monkey and Munna.
You don't have too many options early on. Once you get to the second gym you get more varriety because you can enter the game's forrest section.
