I didn't realize that Werewolfs shape shifted into literally anything.
It's not a werewolf you dumbass. It's based of Foxes from various mythologies that can disguise their true forms with illusions. This is a common theme in both Japanese and Chinese myth.

AFAWK (As far as we know) every language calls Mightyena a hyena...except for Chinese.

And Mightyena might have some wolf influence, but it's not that major, and really he seems more dog like than wolf like. Calling it a wolf is like calling Lanturn a dolphin.

Read wikipedia. Anibis is based on African jackal species. But it was recently discovered that said jackal is not really a jackal, but actually a wolf. Although difference between jackals and wolves is pretty blurred, they are of the same genus Canis
