Honestly it might be very bad for the fame I feel. Walls would thrive in a meta where mixed sweepers were extremely nerfed. Also, the fact that status moves exist throws a wrench into the whole thing.

It already does. The higher your Defense stat, the more a Defense multiplier from a move like Iron Defense gives you.

Unlike most people, I could see that make sense.

Just think about Octillery. On land, it obviously moves slowly, but I can see it using beam attacks quickly

Why not go further?

Split Attack into Armed attack, feet attack and body attack.
Split Special attack into Mind attack, spit attack and nature attack.
Split HP in Constitution, longevity and resistance.

Make it THAT much more special.
