Are you kidding me? Cross-gen evos are the best.
The hypest thing about Sylveon reveal was that there were going to be more cross-gen evos with Gen VI. ;_;

I'm a big fan of the crossevos in general, the direct evos made mons that were incomplete more interesting, while the alternate evos took a different approach with other basis.

isn't the complaint about cross-gen evos that they don't make sense, not the pokemon themselves
like you'd think someone at some point would have accidentally evolved their sneasel or something and there's no reason given why this pokemon didn't exist before

Anon, you could say that to EVERY new generation, why nobody in Kanto (gen 1) has Johto mons when they are neighbor regions and even the gen 2 Kanto has exclusive Gen 2 mons?

GF even tries to justify it, inserting new items that didn't "existed" in the older regions, but at the end of the day, it still is kinda flawed, so is better just accept that all the new pokémon are being created.
