Why did Crystal, HeartGold and SoulSilver worsened the character of Clair by being a complete bitch and not giving you the badge with the trial? In Gold/Silver she just tells you to come to the Dragon's Den and once you get there she gives you the badge easily and without more bitching unlike in Crystal/HG/SS.

Gold/Silver made it a complete chore while Crystal/HGSS showed the true reason why she didn't want to give out the badge despite being defeated: her not trusting your abilities as a trainer.
