Even numbered gens are consistently bad at introducing new mons

this. FireRed was the last game I beat. Once I figured out it was going to take approximately 3 thousand years to trade enough to one game for even a complete original Dex, I caught everything I could from FR, LG, Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald then gave up.

I kinda like checking out the hack games like Brown and Black on an emulator once in a while, though.

But still more usable than most of Johto's mons with decent distribution. We had some solid bugs for once, great ghosts, hidden abilities to make some meh ones alright. Come to think of it aside from some meme tier ones like klinklang, icecream, etc most of them were quiet alright outside of legendaries (Unova has awful legendaries but I haven't liked most legendaries since gen III). It's about average imo.

I actually preferred having Johto's best mons only available late game. It was a nice reward for slogging your way through the story with mostly Kanto mons, and catching them was a fun post-game. I remember as a kid loving the thrill of not knowing what new pokemon were in the areas that opened up in the post-game, such as Sneasel and Larvitar. It also made it more fun to own my noob friends with them having gone through all that effort to find them.

Having gym leaders and an E4 that was very Kanto skewed was unforgivable though.

I'm personally not caught up with ORAS beyond Zinnia porn.

I love Pokemon and I'm excited to see where it goes, but after almost 20 years, I'm just starting to get sick of the same shit constantly. I enjoyed Y for what it's worth, but when it was over, I felt no sense to grind out eggs, shinies, IV/EVs, any of that stuff, let alone everything lately feels like it has no end-game whatsoever, there isn't anything to do.

After playing Cyber Sluts, I'm just sort of wishing for something different from main-line Pokemon games honestly.
