>>25238656This. Minecraft is the really big thing amongst little kids these days, while Pokemon was the really big thing amongst little kids 16 years ago (In my country at least, Pokemon has its big boom at year 2000).
These former little kids are now around 10 + 16 = 26 years old.
Latest marketing moves, like Gen 6 and Virtual console releases (I consider X/Y a Gen1 remake myself) are gathering them all together again.
Still, there is a LOT of parallel merchandise (like plushies) attracting this generation's little kids to Pokemon, that, as you may expect, convive next to Minecraft Creeper plushies, for example.
Something that Minecraft and Pokemon have in common is play with your imagination, with something fantastic yet mundane. In Minecraft's case, you have your shelter. You can shape it as your home, something you can feel comfortable in, your creativity is the limit. In Pokemon you have your everyday world with a twist: animals now have supernatural powers. You roleplay. How life would be different with this twist? What challenges, friends and experiences will you face? You can shape it as your adventure, something you can feel comfortable in, the world is the limit.
