I bought, played, grinded, and almost finished the story.

Yeah, no. Digimon is and always will be a brawler. If I wanted to play a game that doesn't play like the original I'd play Pokemon: Conquest.

This. I imported Cyber Sleuth when it came out and have been saying since then, although it is a great game it has a lot of flaws, such as the difficulty among the other things you listed. It sucks so many people are eating it up as the greatest thing ever though just because it's a Digimon game and has waifus.

I would ask what people truly want from a Digimon game, but I already know the answer to that, and that is exactly what they did for at least a few games. Then they did the more pokemon like thing, but fixed none of it's tediousness. Why are they just incapable of making a decent game? I can understand not wanting to outright copy pokemon, but there are other ways of doing that. Evolving and getting the digimon I want should not be so hard to do.
