Playing Colosseum as a kid, I thought you could only purify one Pokemon because they only gave you one flute. I thought it was stupid, but never questioned why they would make the game like that. It confused me so much.

I thought that Pokemon only evolved after you beat a Gym Leader when I first played Blue. I didn't end up finding out I was wrong until my Bellsprout evolved on whatever that bridge is after Lavender Town. Somehow went that far before I had anything not evolve after a gym.

I thought that stat drops from moves like growl were permanent.

I thought that a Pokemon's cry was just an incredibly bitcrushed version of their anime cry (aka just their name) and for the longest time I tried to figure out how exactly they would say during their cry.
