Never. First time I battled the E4 in Red I swept them with what started at the beginning of the first E4 member as a level 66 Fearow. These games are fucking piss easy.

I mean, I've had fun fights. The first time I fought Cynthia in Diamond was really fun. I remember using my Golduck against Milotic and it went back and forth for awhile and it was fun as fuck. Or this >>25258272 was a fun one too.

But it's never actually been challenging.

The last time I've really had to struggle to complete the game was maybe D/P. HG/SS had some hiccups, but nothing on that level. I attribute this purely to the way that I used to play until I changed my mind in the 5th gen. I would pretty much play the whole game without using any form of healing items, even on the the E4. This meant I would spend forever on them until I was at a high enough level to take on all of them. This was not due to a lack of skill, as when I finally did use healing items for them, I could face them down with little problems.

Also, whitney really did kick my ass in my old Silver game, but in HG she wasn't the top bitch any more.
