Good luck getting those in-game; hell I think some of the items needed to evolve them were Kanto-only

Emboar was the actual shit starter from that gen, just like Chimchar in the gen before
Fire types just aren't all that good ingame at least.

Clearly you haven't tried to catch a quagsire in GSC, where it had a fucking 50% chance of fleeing.
