Lets compare our oh so generic looking Gengar (covered in spikes btw, one of the main complaints from the overdesigned whiners) vs the unique and interesting Pumpkaboo - both ghost types, and yet Pumpkaboo, a newer pokemon, looks 10x better, and doesn't look complicated.
Not all new pokemon are winners, but a lot of old pokemon suffer from some of the same problems that are aimed at new pokemon, plus they show their age when compared to new pokemon. The whiners just need to get some perspective.
