Gen 1 : Lack of balance (psychic type) and lack of good moves for every type.

Gen 3 : No day/night, no interaction with gen 1 and 2 games, bland soundtrack

Gen 4 : DP : Horribly slow, Mt Coronet being a real beaver dam, most horrible than Hoenn's waters, with an unspeakable number of HM needed for exploration.
Pt : Too much little details added on the (back)ground, sometimes pretty awkward like the after-league zone.

Gen 5 : BW : Nothing, actually...
BW2 : Pretty boring team plasma 2 story.

Gen 6 : XY : ExpShare new mechanic, awkwardly stupid Team Flare storyline.
ORAS : Nothing new compared to RS, "teleportations"

1. Changing Boxes, not being able to catch a pokemon if a box was full.

2. Not being able to catch Houndour until the postgame. Houndour was and still is my favorite gen-2 pokemon and I searched fucking everywhere for months trying to find one. This was back in the day when it was sorta hard to find online walkthroughs and my dad wouldn't buy me the player's guide. Drove my bananas.

3. Not being able to transfer my bros from my Silver Version over to my new file like I could with gen-1 to gen-2. Also, no houndour until FRLG, and even then, it was only in the remakes.

4. Aside from being super slow and "SAVING A LOT OF DATA, DON'T TURN OFF THE POWER", Platinum is perfection. Didn't care much for Heart Gold, though, and I'm probably a freak for thinking that.

5. Cruddy starters, I didn't like any of them. Being asked if I want to launch C-Gear every time I turned the game on.

6. Ugly 3D models. I miss the Gen-5 sprites.

Gen 3: The way Zigzagoon, Poochyena, Wingull, Tentacool, and Zubat and/or their evolutions (except Mightyena) were literally everywhere in RS. Also, the removal of visible day/night. Can't evolve Pokemon via happiness in FRLG before beating the E4.
Gen 4: DP have the slowest battle text. Underground was local only. HGSS still have shitty level scaling.
Gen 5: Battle Subway has no online co-op like Gen 4 Frontier.
Gen 6: FUCKING HEALER FOR MEGA AUDINO'S ABILITY, and pretty much what I said about Gen 5 except now about Battle Maison.

I guess this isn't really a gameplay feature that bothers most people, but here goes...

Gens 5 & 6: forcing you to beat two or more powerful trainers in a row after catching your title legendary, with zero options to save before the battles. This made getting a correct-nature Yveltal and Reshiram so fucking difficult for me that I gave up. Especially considering that my team was underleveled when I fought N and Ghetsis so it was a miracle I beat them in the first place. Going through the whole ordeal again just to make sure my Reshiram was Timid, or making sure my Yveltal was modest after beating Lysandre just seemed like less fun to me than watching paint dry.

Also, forcing Reshiram into the front of my party is a dick move to players who prefer to keep their box legends untouched. It forced me to let Reshiram die in order to prevent exp. gain. At least gen 6 fixed that tidbit by making Yveltal an optional party-member.

5: shit stories which tried hard to seem avant garde but ended up sounding retarded. Best new pokes become available to late in game. C-gear, extralink, dream world, useless gadgets. Lack of trainers to level grind good pokes on. Shit starters. Shitty legendaries. Shitty rivals, gym leaders (except elesa) were badly designed. Map was a headache to navigate. Looker storyline was boring, quit playing after defeating Alder, only use the game now to transfer pokes over from gen 3 to 6 now.

6: too easy. Shitty rivals. Shitty story. Mega evolutions seemed like something ripped off from digimon, completed the whole game without it. Needless to say I still one shoted Dianthas Mega gardevior with an overleveled aegislash (new fave pokemon). Hated ORAS, didnt fix anything from RSE.

There is literally not one noticeable glitch in the whole game and certainly not anything coming close to a game breaking glitch. If you're really paying attention you might notice the fact that the move effectiveness message is incorrect sometimes because it only checks the effectiveness of the first type for a dual-typed pokemon, but other than that, it's all shit you literally need to consult a guide in order to even know exists.

Gen 1 is sooo glitchy! Is just a meme started by hoennbabies and they unwittingly expose themselves every time.

Gen 5-Oddly enough, nothing much. The beginning of BW with your friends is annoying and BW2's method of unlocking challenge mode
Gen 6-Your friends being annoying x2 and making an easy game even easier

G/S/C: nothing particularly annoyed me. Box switching/saving was annoying. Whirlpool being an HM would have driven me mad if I had Silver, though

They fixed a lot of questionable shit in Explorers, like not being able to take a fourth member (in spite of being able to still recruit at 3 members), KOd recruited members being sent away forever if they were recruited in the same trip.

Yeah they did sort out a few things (no longer losing just-recruited members if they're KO'd was a godsend) but I thought that the balance-related stuff (multi-hits, counter, paralysis, most other status effects, etc) was largely the same

G1 and G2 were okay in my opinion, and G3 would have been great if Ruby and Sapphire were both like Emerald from the start but eh.

DP: It was the first time they had a new pair that would have to last two years until the next games. They needed to stretch content for a long time so they had to hide the cross evos so kids had something to discover later on and keep them playing. They were so desperate to stretch content they were willing to make the E4 teams shit. Same reason they made a 6 per day limit at Pal Park.

HGSS: The director wanted HGSS to be exactly GSC. He was so nostalgic that he wanted the same trainer levels and the same encounter tables. FRLG had the same trainer levels but updated the encounter tables.

Gen 2: Still no Phys/Spec split. Some cool Johto pokemon are hidden in fucking Kanto.
Gen 3: Ruby and Sapphire sucking ass. Emerald is still one of the best however.
Gen 4: Diamond and Pearl sucking ass. Platinum is also still one of the best games, arguably THE best.
Gen 5: Starters blow ass. Low HP music was cool for like, one fight but got old real fast.
Gen 6: Your fucking goon-squad of 'friends'. Pretty much nobody has a team of 6. Game is generally easier. A billion free strong pokemon to help idiots through the game.

Gen 5: nothing that frustrated me, really. This isnt really gameplay but the fact that some pokemon got dream world-exclusive moves and you cant legitimately get them with perfect ivs without hacking.
Gen 6: oras did nothing to fix hoenn's shitty regional dex. Soaring encounters are annoying as well.

there's a type matchup list in the game's code. the game reads it in the reverse order while dealing with the matchup text and chooses whichever type matchup comes first.

I honestly didn't mind that. Made trekking through certain places/grinding a lot more tolerable since you didn't have to backtrack to the pokemon center that was likely really far away
