>>25281259To be fair this was gen 3, many Pokemon had still had shit movepools and physical/special split wasnt a thing. Take Down on Mightyena was actually stronger than Bite, and it doesn't learn Crunch until lv. 47. Sharpedo doesn't actually learn any water moves by leveling up, and Crunch was special. That said it does look like the game just picks the last 4 moves learned by that Pokemon and goes from there.
The real shame is nothing was changed for remakes after all those years. It's as if Rhydon in FRLG still had only had Fury Attack and Horn Drill for it's attacking moves, and both Tail Whip and Leer.
