Had a lot of Pokemon and evo lines that were supposed to be conpanions to Gen 1 Pokemon, like Trubbish line being Grimer line, Conkeldurr line being the Machamp line, and Gigalith being the Golem line.
I think the main thing about Gen 5 being so damn comfy is the graphical overhall. I still to this day think Gen 5 had the best artstyle, and tilesets and color palettes around. Everything, from the water tiles, to the bridges and pathways, and the flower tiles just looks so pretty and so unique. I really loved exploring Unova.
And that's the thing about Unova, it's very modernized, sorta like big cities like Chicago and New York. There are some really developed towns, and even big cities but there are still wilderness routes and whatnot like it's your backyard, and I think the fences really added to this.
The story was fresh and exiciting, and the music is some of the best in the series (BW1 Galactic Battle is in my top 5 themes in the franchise) and the games just felt new while still having the familiar Pokemon touch.
I know Gen 5 alienated a lot of people, but goddamn if I don't love it and think it's the best gen in the series.
