Which games did it best? Made the choice hardest? Had the best exclusives? Which opposed pairs made the best rivals/alts, thematically or stat wise? And if you could cram in sets of exclusives to your own region, what would they be?

Weird, I always thought Sneasle and Gligar were an opposed pair, but they've never even been exclusives in the same set of games before, always just one or the other.

what the hell were they thinking? Dewgong and Slowbro/-king? Scizor and Pinsir? Tyranitar and Aggron in one game and just Salamance and Walrein in the other? Stantler and Kecleon? What was the logic in this?

How weird that it took them 6 generations to make the trade evolutions version exclusives. Unless you count diamond and pearl and pair off Scizor and Sloking. I thought that Razor and Hook claw trade was between exclusives but I guess Sneasle was in both.

generally the exclusives have clear counterparts, scizor and slowking aren't, but they are both trade evolutions and exclusives in the same game. but when you're trying to incentivise buying one game over the other, you'd think having exclusive access to a thing with some trade value or rarity would be a good way to do it.

For Gen 4, Scyther is Pinsir's counterpart, Tyranitar is Mence' counterpart, Aggron is Walrein's counterpart. Slowking and Scizor are just along for the ride
