I am surprised the new games are so unpopular. New features, such as easy level curve, wondertrade, ease of hacked pokes, and nostalgia of old games make them the funnest pokemon games ever for me.

Pokemon has always been about the monsters themselves and sometimes the atmosphere, not the gameplay.

If anything I was actually surprised that there were new megas for whatever reason. Pretty much all the stuff that people whine about not being in the game, e.g. "muh BF", was stuff I didn't care for in the originals. I really liked OR/AS though, because they turned a shit series of games, R/S/E, into decently good games. I'm not the guy you were responding to, but I kind of feel the same way about the BF in retrospect. I barely took part in any of the facilities.

Exactly. For me it got boring pretty fast, using my shit like my Metagross, easily clubbing the NPCs using first evo 'mons. Only place that was an actual challenge was the Battle Factory, and that was just because of the RNG. I quit after one too many times of the RNG just completely fucking me over.

Human psychology.

By associating admitting disappointment with defeat, it becomes a lot easier to argue in favor of something. The arguing can also attract people with the same opinion: "Those guys agree too, ORAS has to be good!"

Johto is the only region with 5 good games, narrowly edging out Unova's 4.

Kanto had 2 good games 7 if you count gen 2 and its remakes.

Hoenn has one with Emerald.

And Kalos has none.
