They won't go back and add evolutions to stones that already exist because "then why couldn't I evolve it back in gen 3?"
See Umbreon and Espeon. Gen 3 had no day night cycle, but rather than make them easily obtainable with the obviously fitting sun and moon stones, they left them with a flawed evolution method. Same goes for Milotic getting a trade evo and eventually whatever tradebullshit they pull out for Sylveon.
