>>25319628birds are literally dinosaurs, not technically, but yeah. I don't blame people for not knowing though, I'm sure people get annoyed that I know jack shit about cars.
>>25319633during the permian, when dimetrodon lived, dinosaurs were still in the early stages of evolution. Most dinosaurs looked like chunky and akward raptors, with more reptilian traits (shorter face, doesn't look like it belongs on two feet)
dimetrodon was a mammal-like reptile that did not have scales, but actually had smooth skin dotted with pores, like us (and like I said, they might have even had primitive, bristly hairs). They did have "scaley" undersides, but they were scales derived from skin like us, so think of the "scales" of a rat tail and not from a lizard. They also didn't have external ears, which is weird as shit
some misconceptions about dimetrodon:
>is a dinosaurnope, I said it before, these guys are closer to mammals than dinosaurs
>had a fish-like sailit was probably actually kinda fleshy, and the skin between the spines would be thick enough it wouldn't be transparent
>walked like a croc with legs sprawled outthere's some discussion about whether or not it walked with its legs straight or out to the side, but it definitely sat/rested with its legs out to the side. It may have "high-walked" if it were in a hurry, like crocs do today.
>lived in a desertsome species lived in swampy places and probably swam a bit, and ate fish. No, the sail didn't help it swim. It might have actually hindered it underwater, actually.
>was basically a walking shredderI mean that's true. its name means "two measures of teeth", because it has teeth for every occasion.. steak tooth, table tooth, soup tooth..
