XY was hype as fuck on release and if they had held off releasing for like 6 months so it could've had a proper endgame and fixed the unfleshed out things that were clearly rushed in the game, then I would've loved it.
You can see how much effort they put into the game in the huge ass area toward the second gym. After that, the rest of the game doesn't feel like it has that kind of quality at all. The Pokemon encounters feel really thought out, there's so much to do and they introduce you to so many features, it's uncanny. I just kind of imagine what the game would be like if it was entirely like that.
