There are plenty of pokemon that counter it well despite it being able to OHKO. If anything it will just become the ultimate wall breaker, but its already banned in the 2 top gamemodes

You simply need basic thinking to beat Greninja. You need to look at Greninja's team and deduce from the team what sort of coverage moves Greninja would use to cover for the team. There, you now know instantly how to counter and defeat Greninja if you're smart. In this regard, Greninja is competitively one of the most unique pokemon ever.

Remember what I said about it being fast as fuck? Unless you send in a special wall that can't be taken down with Gunk Shot/ Low Kick, Greninja's not going to have a problem attacking again with its flawless coverage. Due to its high SpATK (with fucking protean and a life orb), it can kill many things outright in one to two hits.

Well, Gen 1 Pokemon had genders tied to IVs, when you traded them back and forth between Gen 2, so they'll probably have genders based on that.

OHKO moves may be inaccurate, but they're still 30% luck buttons that instantly kill. The point of the game is to be skilled, not abuse the RNG. It's fine to keep that sort of luck based gameplay to unofficial shit like Smogon does with AG, but in an actual setting you shouldn't have to spin roulette wheels in a game where you should be using strategy and predictions to beat an opponent.

And yes, while normal moves are usually better, the point is that OHKO moves will hit a third of the time on average. And that's just stupid and not fun or competitive.

In any case, it's a game where strategy plays a huge part. Sure, it'd be nice to get a burn off of Scald, and that's why I would run it over Surf, but just spamming scald for the sake of getting a burn is retarded. And that's a minor example. Running OHKO moves requires no skill and turns the game into a roulette where the OHKO move users chances aren't too bad at 1 in 3
