While this is true, there's no real reason why a Pokemon game should stutter this much. The genre isn't exactly intensive, yet you get severe framedrops whilst you play it in 2D. Meanwhile games like Smash 3DS and Kid Icarus: Uprising have a huge amount of action going on and they're pretty much perfectly stable even with 3D on.

XY was in development for 3 years according to GF. They announced it like 9 months before release. You have no evidence at ALL that they only started working on it a few weeks ago or that the concept footage shown was their actual point

Also, the logos WERE leaked. They were supposed to not be know. The direct was shit because the content was leaked beforehand. If we were not aware of the trademarks it would have been hype af

ORAS did but it also shown jack shit compared to XY

Other games shown stuff their own way, mostly starting with showcasing new important Pokemon (Zoroark, Munchlax/Lucario, Giratina-O, Kyurem forms), then going right into the gameplay trailer/screenshots. Here we literally just got fucking logos and some concept art, which heavily implies the game is still very early into the development.

Tri-count (not polycount) is important, yes, but it's often the last reason for framrate drop. Shaders and poor coding is what truly impacts framrate. A shader with 500+ functions is going to lag the game more than a model with a mere 4k tri count (from what I've seen, the average in X/Y). So will poorly optimized coding.

There's often no more than four models on screen at once. On average, that's 16k tris, which is absolutely nothing even for the 3ds. The lag we saw in X/Y is more likely caused by their toon shader and horrible coding. If we're being honest, GF doesn't have the best record when it comes to coding. Their subpar coding is almost notorious.

Smash's models have tons of sharp edges and in no way look similar to the smooth, cell shaded models in Pokemon. Not to mention SSB stages themselves take up a lot more resources than a Pokemom battle stage does and there's usually more characters on screen + items and other affects. With Pokemon, there's only four (six at the max) Pokemon on screen doing an idle animation. They can afford the "extra" tris.

As someone who's in multimedia development, I can tell you right now you don't even need to be in the field to know gamefreak's issue boils all the way down to programming.

Pokemon X and Y runs like shit while Kingdom Hearts 3D and Monster Hunter 3/4 are fine and stable.

I'm a software engineer, and I can attest to this. Other games look better than gen 6, yet they also run better. Even though they've made some of my favorite games, Gamefreak really isn't a good developer in the technical sense. At all. I've done rom hacking. It's a mess, especially the gameboy games.
