the event OP is referring to are promo card giveaway, holo Pikachu and Magikarp, and a poster. TRU stated it's reserved for kids only

Gamestop is also doing a similar thing, poster giveaway with the purchase of a Pokemon item

They probably will send you away without an actual kid. Or they'll do what most retailers would do is give you whatever the fuck you want so there's no risk of someone getting pissed off and reporting to corporate that they were turned away from getting an item that others were able to.

I don't remember any mention of that in the impact planner about it, but I can say that we got a ton of each card and the posters. My store is pretty lax at giving stuff to adults as long as the kids come first. If they won't let you have an extra pair at the event, just ask later in the day after it's over. They'll just be thrown away eventually anyway.

Also: Clefairy and Meowth cards in April.

I'm going to assume it's so if some sperglord shows up and makes the parents of the actual kids nervous or otherwise causes issues, they can legally tell him to leave by having those details somewhere. Otherwise, like you say, not a big deal.
