I'm a fan of champions being involved in the story of the game. Starting with Lance in gen ii helping you take down Team Rocket in Mahogany, to Steven taking a vested interest in saving Hoenn from kogre/groudon, to Alder helping you track down Team Plasma in the ancient ruins and trying to defeat N himself as league champ. Cynthia did jack shit in diamond and pearl, and kinda was shoehorned in at the distortion world in platinum. Diantha has a conversation about getting old with Lysandre at the beginning of the game and then fucks off for the rest of it. Blue is still the best though. Motherfucker infiltrated a team rocket seige just to ambush you. What a dick.

She had the Gardevoir - Queen, imo representing Freya for the games theme.

Goodra - Typical "decent" dragon to match Garchomp, Dragonite etc

Tyrantrum - He's pretty damn regal looking if you ask me.

Aurorous - It has the whole aurora borealis thing going for it, sort of matches by being pretty.

Hawlucha - I don't really fucking know why it was there? Doesn't fit at all.

Doesn't each of the highest stat also match the colour of the pokemon's main colour too? Or something like that anyway.

Spiritomb makes fuck all sense, Milotic fits okay with the character but not really, Roserade too I guess, HURR GOTTA SHILL LUCARIO, generic epic Dragon Garchomp, togekiss is dumb but I guess it is a special snowflake mon, and Gastrodon is the dumbest team choice ever

I'll give her credit for being the first truly diverse champion instead of 'muh FWG' shit with blue or the monotype champions, but it's a stupid team and fight. The only legitimate challenges are the milotic and Garchomp anyway.

Fixed.

Diantha is probably the worst. Her team blew chunks, she was irrelevant to the story, and she failed to be intimidating or command respect in any way. Fucking Lance was a better champion, and he was a douchebag. I think she might be a better champion than Wallace, for what it matters.

Cynthia's team is all of the region's eccentric or noteworthy pokemon. Garchomp is the pseudo, Lucario is Lucario (and this was his very first appearance, at the time Riley's sidequest was the only way to get one), Milotic is the "contest" pokemon because of the way it evolves, Spiritomb has that crazy underground shit to make him appear, gastrodon has two forms...roserade/togekiss is shilling new cross gen evos I guess.
