The spoiler doesn't fall apart as easily though. We have Fuji -- whose game role appeared radically different from the manga and anime. The games spoke to him as a hermit and caregiver to Pokemon, but by way of the Mewtwo movie and Emerald version, we know he was involved with the Cinnabar Mansion project.

Out of 151 of Kanto's available monsters and no guarantee he picked a Charmander, that's a fucking gamble.
