Meganium is very useful against Whitney, Chuck and Pryce, and its early access to Razor Leaf, Reflect, Poison Powder and Synthesis turn it into a great tank. It also learns Body Slam and Earthquake in case you want some other moves.
So far the only starter that I've personally thought of dumping because it's so bad is Serperior, much worse than Meganium in-game.
