I'm surprised you haven't seen it in "most comfy place" threads or the like. Not that I'm hating on it, but its what I expect the most.

Other things I expect are Village Bridge and every city in the region that's the biggest. All good choices.

I really like what they did with Castelia's gym in BW2. They completely saved it, especially with the subtle theme and tiered puzzles that really made it feel like you were building toward something.

Laverre is so fucking great. It was horrible how every location in XY was basically just a set piece for the story, though. There's nothing to do back there once you've gone through.

Put it this way: I want to like Dendemille Town. If I travel there in the post game, I can talk to some NPCs who only have flavour text, or I can use the Move Deleter. Otherwise I can run around going on the rail repeatedly. It's a great town aesthetically but there is no reason to go there other than to use the Move Deleter, which you do inside without seeing the environment, AKA the only reason to like the town.

Sootopolis has those guys who weigh Shroomish and Barboach, you can fish in the middle of town, Cave of Origin is the best place to grind Speed EVs in RSE, there's a daily Berry event, and that's all off the top of my head.

The daily berries are nice, even if you can get most of them elsewhere I guess the weight brothers are cool if you really need elixirs/ethers.

All I'm saying is that I more frequently visited Dendemille in Y's postgame than Sootopolis in OR's. Mainly because the Move Relearner is one of the most useful NPC to me, and the Deleter also having some usage from time to time.

What I notice about Johto towns is that the layout is one of the least blocky and more natural in the regions.

Many towns and cities in Kanto and Hoenn are laid out really square, while the building placement in Johto is more random. Hell, even Sinnoh's starting town is a square.

It dominates the entire north side of the city, it blows my mind that they didn't take over the gym or the rest of the town with that amount of investment in the place.

Honestly though, I have to give it out to Sootopolis. something about being inside a closed up place like that surrounded by mountains with that huge lake in the center seemed comfy as all hell to me growing up, that the only way in is flying or diving to get in.

Like the fairy queens place in windwaker. Ultra comfy.

Man, I'm gonna have to go back and reevaluate Kalos. I don't remember much about my playthrough in Y which was in 2013 but I definitely remember enjoying a lot of things about the region itself.

I played both BW, as well as White 2.

I agree, although I think Roxie should have been the 8th Gym, and Marlon 2nd/3rd. Her Scolipede could have been a REAL challenge. Maybe a Toxic Spikes gimmick to add to her Venoshock strats.

I actually find it pretty fun to just kind of shit around and randomly find stuff or people in alleys. Also I've been there so much I know most of the layout without having to use taxis. Though they are helpful getting to places quickly. Not to mention its probably the most useful city since almost all the stuff is located there. That may have hurt the usefulness of the other cities though.
