I thought it was because they didn't have access to it, but I reload and do the exact same fight, and almost beat it before it uses that skill, and the game freezes right before executing the next attack.
First time gave an error message and CTD, second just froze the game, had to hold the power button.
Also had it freeze once in a while when I'd try to start selecting menu options when the little end of turn status messages were still displaying.
Should note that apparently it only happens if you're playing on the NEW 3DS.
On another note, say Squeenix remakes FF6 in BD's style to replace the shitty phone port, yfw?
