Because gen 6 visuals don't need a change dumbass, they are fully animated in 3D and thus without new hardware there's nothing to improve

gen 4 sprites were still static so there was loads of room for improvement

The overall battle look is different, the only thing they kept is the models- and there's no point in changing those when they have a high enough poly count to work on future more powerful hardware *with probably higher quality textures though*. Only difference needed atm is probably animations.

op is a cumguzzler and these changes are nice and all, but truth to be said it's all just background tweaks and the battles do look pretty much completely the same. it's closer to the transition between black/white and black/white 2 than gen 4 to gen 5.

What do you gain from this, OP? If the game sucks, you lose too. It's one thing to lower expectations, but Jesus, /vp/ derailed the hype train as soon as we knew the names of these games.

Did people actually expect there to be new models, considering the amount of work that went into the current crop? This shit could easily carry them for another generation after Sun and Moon.

What's vexing is that they don't seem to have acknowledged any of the criticisms regarding certain Pokemon being stuck in really awful flying animations instead of putting them in a "grounded" pose when not in sky battles, assuming it ever reached their ears to begin with. It's not like the poses don't exist either, it's just a matter of swapping the two. That and the washed out colors, which is more an issue with the lighting than the models themselves.

They just needed to add a few new animations, for a very small amount of pokemon, most of them already have standing animations because of the pokemon amie, they just needed to animate their attacks, but gamefreak is lazy as fuck.

That's the ABSOLUTE bare minimum they could do. Even Diamond and Pearl had different HP bars compared to Platinum and Heart Gold Soul Silver, games in the same freaking gen. I wouldn't even count that as a positive. More like the minimum needed to not be clearly lazy.

I think you didn't saw the Pokenchi screenshot from S/M. You can see bystanders in the battles.

Honestly, I think implementing 3D models for Pokemon on the 3DS was extermely premature. It just can't handle it properly. They should have just stuck with sprites for one more gen, then released gen VI on NX Handheld.
