What is the deciding factor for you when it comes to buying these games or not? For me, if I don't see a single gym leader with more than 3 Pokemon, I'm not supporting this gen.

I kind of like the system where you re-battle gym leaders after you reach a certain point and they have different teams. Plus, you can't have every gym leader with a full team right at the beginning. The pokedex would fill up too quickly. You'd have to use pokemon from outside the region. And it'd be too difficult for little kids. They might not ever beat the game.

Generally if there's no heart and soul put into the games, I feel they're not worth my money. I know pokemon's entire franchise is basically a cash grab, but there has been at least some heart put into the games from Gen 5 and backwards. Gen 6 seems to have lost it. That's why I'm going to play it safe with Gen 7 and try before I buy (pirating).

I liked every Pokémon mainline game, so I will buy this.

I play other games too, so I don't feel disappointed when the games are 'too easy'. There are other things to play when I want challenge. But Pokémon gives me a mix of nostalgia and a sense of adventure, which other games cannot do.

He didn't say right from the beginning. There's something called progressions, where you start by fighting against a leader with few pokemon, and by the end the leader has a full team.

We haven't had a leader with 4 pokes since DP, and it's kind of a letdown.

Or E4 even. An E4 having 5 Pokemon with 2 of those being Beautifly and Dustox is a waste of space compared to one that has 4 but has a Scizor.
Having more Pokemon is worthless if they're bad. There's a reason Whitney is harder than Blair despite having 2 less Pokemon.

To be fair, with monotype gyms it does kind of apply. The more Pokemon, the more dual types you can implement to counter super effective types. So the fact that in X/Y most Gym Leaders and E4 could be taken out with only one Pokemon with one move is just a bit too easy.

Why specify "in XY"? This applies to all the other games too, if anything it applies MORE to the ones before gen V where leaders would use pre-evolutions of team members they already had.
If i have Grass type defeating a Rock/Ground, Rock/Ground, Rock gym is way easier than defeating a Rock/Ice, Rock/Dragon gym.
