Check out any sufficiently old image of 4chan and you'll quickly realize how much of the modern internet culture than 4chan can't fucking stand used to be the 4chan norm. It's not even memes that have long died on 4chan that the rest of the internet uses or the fucking emotes. The way people post and talk, what they say and how it's structured, looking at all that shit from older 4chan is like looking at the rest of the internet today.
The only thing that's really different is the politics and seriously everyone takes everything. But what people like to talk about? The memes and phrases they use? The sheer ironic but not really ironic at all affected stupidity of it? All 4chan, baby.
