When Litten shoots its little hairball shit out, it has a spiked thing pop up on it's back.
It's painfully obvious this is going to be part of it's future evolutions, just like Cyndaquil. In fact, if XY was the "Gen 1 Reboot", SM should be the "Gen 2 Reboot". So we're probably looking at a larger owl, a fire cat with a spiked back and and larger seal/otter whatever the fuck Popplio is.
