>>26656408This conversation, along with taking a closer look at Luxray, made me realize maybe I chose my words wrong. I realize edginess carries a very strongly negative connotation that wasn't really my intent when criticizing the two pokemon.
But I can't actually think of a better term to describe the particular style they remind me of, so... just disregard everything I said, I guess (if you haven't already), and bump OP's team to 7/10.
>>26656417It helps that I had an Emolga in my first gen 5 run, and she was VERY helpful (then again, when your Electric competition that gen was Zebstrika...). I realize they're a generic pikaclone, and there are better pokemon and designs out there, even in gen5, but you don't argue against bros.
>>26656474Point 1: I said "dark fur PLUS the angry dual-colored eyes", as opposed to being issues by themselves. The "serious eyes" aren't a problem by themselves: it's when they're combined with the red/yellow coloring that makes them stand out as... I do NOT want to say edginess again (since as you said, that's not being fair and diluting the meaning of the word, and I now realize I was wrong in using it), but there is SOMETHING about its style that doesn't feel thematic with the rest of gen 3's pokedex.
>GourgeistI don't get this, why would dark brown on pink make me think it's edgy? The nose part, I genuinely hadn't thought of that; it's a good theory, and makes me more accepting towards the nose (I'd argue making it light purple like Noibat would have made the scheme better, but maybe it would miss the point).
>Noivern as a DigimonIt's the ears for me, I guess. I do agree that Klefki is probably the most Digimon of pokemon (not including legendaries, as I stated in the post), but... honestly, I just forgot about it.
I didn't quite mean it in a horribly negative light, it's just that I don't like Noivern's design, and it makes me think of Digimon when I see it. And I actually LIKE Digimon, so... I don't know what that means
