Thus, Kalos, Sinnoh, Johto and Kanto are all one landmass, and Hoenn has to be near as well. This explains why Pokémon from the latter regions can be found in Kalos; Unova Pokémon could be explained as being introduced species.
Unova has very few Pokémon from the other regions and it is described as being "far from the others". It makes sense that it would be located in a separate landmass. Orre would be in the same continent, because it's very loosely based in Arizona/California and Unova is very loosely based in the NYC area. There are Pokémon of other regions in Orre because it's nearer to the other regions. Almia it's really just there to shape the region better.
Alola would be right between the two larger landmasses, and any other regions can go anywere.
I'm thinking about moving the eastern landmass a little more to the north, because Unova seems rather cold, yet I'm placing it in the same latitude as Hoenn.
