There is absolutely no reason to assume that Sun and Moon will have less than 100 new Pokemon.
Odd gens always add an abundance of new Pokemon and EVERY even generation has had less than 100 original Pokemon that aren't cross-gen evos or megas. X/Y are literally nothing new.

Here's the thing: I really want this game to be good, but my hype died down a bit when I saw older gen Pokes. I just want a Pokemon game with exclusively new Pokemon. If you want the old mons, trade em from XY. Seeing old mons ruins my immersion.

While I agree with your general sentiment we did have Blastoise in Kalos' regional dex and Meowth is clearly going to be part of the regional dex regardless of whether it's shown up since Johto because you can literally see it and talk to it in the game

XY were objectively flawed, though. Routes oversaturated with Pokemon, bad rivals, watered down dialogue, generic villains, and a plot that pukes all over its BW predecessor

BW was solid albeit linear, with a sequel improving everything yet giving it a sour taste in the player's mouth via an unsatisfying plot

Pretty sad to see dead hype around here; I'm pretty excited myself.

+No more Chibi style
+Starters look good
+Legendaries look good
+Region looks good and unique
+Hype to see more new pokemon
+Hype to see the new gym leaders + E4 + Champ
+Hype to see the starter evolutions
-Characters so far mostly look bland like we've come to expect as of late
-Visuals still leave room to be desired
-Hints of less new pokemon but this is just speculation as of now

We haven't seen a whole lot yet; particularly new Pokemon, but I'm excited for the potential in new stuff. The fanbase here on /vp/ gets older each day while the Pokemon company continues to target the same age group they did in 1996-8. I stick around for the gameplay and new mons. XY had good quality mons despite the lower number so I'm fine with a potentially similar number so long as the designs continue to be appealing.

Why hasn't The Pokemon Company made their own amiibo for the Pokemon games yet? Such a missed opportunity. They could have added extra gameplay experiences for NN3DS users.
