So Pokémon that aren't Water types that are confirmed to live in the Sea by Pokédex entries are: Anorith, Armaldo, Lileep, Cradily, Lugia, Dragalge, Dragonair, and Dragonite. Dratini has never been outright stated to live in the Sea, not that I could find anyway, but it is implied to anyway. Tynamo, Eelektrik, Eelektross are all electric eels, although never found in the Sea in-game, Eelektross' dex does mention it coming from the Sea. Inkay and Malamar are Squid who live on Muraille Coast in-game. They were depicted in the Anime once swimming in the Great Blue. Shuckle and Dwebble have both be shown living on beaches, but the species they are based on have been shown living and hunting in the Sea. Are there any I'm missing?

>Dratini has never been outright stated to live in the Sea You do however catch it in the water pretty much every time

Is this for ONLY the sea or freshwater counts too? Because if we're counting any body of water, you could also add Hippowdon and Krookodile.

>>26662016 Grimer and Muk. Read their RSE or ORAS dex entries. They were born from ocean pollution.

>>26662103 Those are sand mons. It's even stated in the dex that Hippopotas dislikes water.

>>26662103 No I'm only counting the Sea in this one.
>>26662098 If you check it's locations they appear only to be Fresh Water. Except Dream World's Sparkling Sea, but who'd count extinct locations?

Despite being clearly designed after whales, OP's mom is not a water type.

>>26662134 I laughed too much at this. No room for my mom in the pic though. Also not a 'mon.

>>26662171 What about shelmet/accelgor, as well as escavalier? The former seem very likely but their design seems to contrast with a lot of their ingame lore and moves.

>>26662222 I'm a bit hesitant to add Shelmet and Accelgor. Although based on the Giant Tube Worms and Nautilus that live in the Seas, this seems to be the only evidence to add them. There have been Pokémon before, like Hippopotas, that are designed on animals living in water but live in completely different habitats in the pokemon world. There is no in-game lore or even Anime depictions showing them in the Sea. They are shown as swamp Pokémon, however. I really don't know if I should add them or not, let me know what you think.

Dwebble have been shown living on the shore since their introduction and they are based on Hermit crabs, where some species live in the Sea.

Seaside cave in BW2 had both tynamo and eelektross if you wanted more supporting info. There is also a crustle in there, but its a one time battle, so I don't know if it counts.

I also suppose lugia counts I'm not sure if masquerain counts. It is shown to still stride on water and there are oceanic water striders, but that's a stretch.

Shelmet, Karrablast, and Goomy live in very shallow water if that counts. Sliggoo can actually be found while surfing, despite the fact that it can't learn Surf itself.

>>26662016 Quality thread OP!
Waterfag here. I like to call these pokemon 'Honorary water types' for this very reason! They also happen to be some of my favorite designs of all time, particularly Cradily, Eelektross, Dwebble and Inkay.

>>26664870 I also don't consider shelmet/karrablast to fall into this niche, since they are very much swamp pokemon rather than water-dwelling pokemon. In my personal categorization, you've got them all in your latest image.
