Overal rankings. Asthetics, layout, towns, everything that makes up a region. Based on most up to date incarnations.
Johto and Unova pretty much do most things right.
The hardest one for me to place was Sinnoh. It could have gone in both Good and Shit. One one hand, tedious, slow and HM heavy, on the other hand, really nice atmosphere and ok route design. But the unmemorable towns and meh asthetics (lime green grass and chocolate mountain tiles) made it Okay. God tier music though.
Hoenn's water routes are fucking shit, but it has decent towns.
Kalos is shit.
Playing FireRed now so I'll have an opinion on Sevii Islands soon enough
