The only reason for the npc warning is because there is no grid for you to know for sure when you will engage in a battle, so they needed t include a warning to make you aware when you are going to walk in front of him

As if rival battles were ever actually challenging. I mean, it's not like you can just build a balanced team to cover your starters weakness. Not to mention that he had a pichu, meaning that he might still get a pokemon SE to your starter.

But really, these changes are great. They have absolutely 0 impact on the difficulty of the game, they're merely convenince for a younger audience.
No on accidentally ran into trainer before, that wasn't what contributed to any """"difficulty""" the games had before.

Also the type effectiveness only apperas if you've battled that pokemon before.

The game's transitioning to really 3D as opposed to quasi-3D. Telegraphing trainer encounters makes up for the camera angle's blind spots if you're not using the automap.

Type Effectiveness hints pissed me off, though. I kind of liked when players made shortsighted decisions of move effectiveness to punish kids that didn't bone up on the chart.

We should absolutely complain, but about things that are worth complaining.
Giving trainers lazy teams with stupid movesets, takes away from the game and makes it less enjoyable, making it unnecessarily unchallenging. That's the kind of stuff that gives us reason to complain.
There's no chance that the game won't be easy, even BW2's hard mode wasn't hard, even though it was very much an upgrade from the normal mode.
I do admit the games seem to go out of their way to help you; all the overpowered gift pokemon that get shoved down your throat, the people that heal you in every dungeon, the hand-holding annoying friends and whatnot, it's true the games are getting more casual each time. On the other hand, there are some more convenient things they add, like the new breeding mechanics, the dexnav, this new interface things, the new exp share (it's fantastic for EV training), the kind of things that makes the game more accessible for new players, and are overall positive to have.

Battle Royales look interesting.

That's the only compliment I can give, and it's not even a big one because there will probably be less than half a dozen battle royales against NPCs in the game.

Everything else is neutral at best and awful at worst, type hints being the latter.

If it was something like you have to have the Pokémon caught in your Pokédex to get hints for it, that would be fine because you find out their types as a result of catching them. This isn't that though.
