Second, even in just general matches without restrictions, dolphins are special attackers at heart. Sure they have a nice attack stat, rivaling shark, but they don't have near the movepool to compete with shark.
A dolphin would win a 1v1 with a shark, yeah, but you're not looking at the deeper pictures. They fulfill different niches.
Hell, you could have shark AND dolphin on one team! They compliment each other well, and some people can't tell the difference.
