>>26781846While I do agree with what the comic says and the implication that simply using an image for an arguments rebuttal is pretty silly, the problem here is OP didnt really set up an argument of any kind. He just sorta said "I dont like the new pokemon, im done with pokemon." Which is fine, if you find yourself not enjoying pokemon anymore, yes maybe its time to move.
But if your going to argue that every pokemon you dislike is bad just because they dont look like what they use to, your not really presenting any case for yourself.
First, yes pokemon designs have changed. Everything changes overtime and thats something everyone has to be able to accept or at least deal with if your going to be happy in life. GF figured they wanted to alter the way they designed pokemon. Maybe it was because they felt adding certain symmetry to hair and feathers looked better then having wild untamed hair like Raticate (probably for the fact it is suppose to be kind of a cartoony monster game).
Secondly, if pokemon were all designed to appeal to the tastes of one kind of person, it would be doing much worse. The fact you see so much conflict on vp about designs is because pokemon is able to fill tons of niche's that people enjoy. Vanniluxe was probably never intended to be as popular as Charizard, but Vanniluxe does find itself with a fanbase because its weird and goofy design. It doesn't really translate to being a worse design, because the argument of a design or drawing being 'good' is almost always purely subjective, and comes down to the persons personal tastes.
And lets be honest here, there will probably be 800 pokemon now. Even if you stopped liking the designs since gen 3 or 4, thats still a pretty huge amount of usable pokemon to enjoy. If your really that angry about how they look now however, i'de say either stick with what you like, or try opening your mind up a little and indulging in a little harmless fun. Feels good.
