Seriously went over peoples heads though, people still speculate about that "mystery" to this day.
As for the first one, I don't know, but seeing as Mega Stones came from space, I will guess that this NPC is wrong, and that it's just a big space rock. Not the only NPC in X/Y that feeds you misinformation about Mega Evolution. One NPC speculates that Mega-Aerodactyl is it's "Primal" form from before its fossilization. However "Primal" forms became an actual thing in OR/AS, and did not include Aerodactyl. Was possibly just teasing the concept of Primal reversion, but the NPC himself was definitely incorrect.
