Magnetmite's design is fine. People just use it fight against complaints of object-based pokemon in later gens from genwunners and fans that are about to drop the series.
This actually makes me wish pic related was from gen 1 so people would let their nostalgia analyze the design's redeeming qualities.

Just because its not cute and cool looking doesn't make it a bad design. Fictional media has goofy-looking designs/characters as well and Vanilluxe fulfills it's purpose as one.

Eh, I don't really like pokémon without any limbs or ability to stand up without tipping over. And the Dragonquest slime faces creep me out. Some people like them, though. And honestly, I shouldn't have called it bad. It's more mediocre. Not even near my list of worst pokémon.
