Same could be said about Gym Leaders and Champions, if they're just sitting in their gym, you forget them 2 s after getting your badge or becoming Champion.
See XY, I only remember Viola because first Gym and Korrina because Megaevo subplot and Wulfric because he actually does things. But most are just inexistant. I had to look up to remember Ramos for example.
Other like Clemont are exception because anime. Or Valerie because extra quirk but that's it. And I'm picking the most recent gen, let's not even talk about gen 4 which has the least memorable cast barring Cynthia because she was shoveled in later games.
