Whenever someone says XY has the best soundtrack I want to say they're dead wrong because most of the battle music is trash, but then I realize it's probably the one I can remember the most music from and one of its two good battle themes is perhaps the best in the series.

Route 15 was pretty good too, and same for Sycamore's theme

Compare that to Gen 5's godawful electronic musics

Gen I - Simple 8-bit soundtrack. Not that exciting
Gen II - Awesome 8-bit music. Superior
Gen III - Rocking 16-bit tunes. Many good tracks
Gen IV - Some are good, some are too happy.
Gen V - Same as gen IV, but less good ones
Gen VI - Orchastric rocking music.

Soo many tracks in the pokemon franchise are more rocking tunes with notable highs in the tracks, while there are still a decent amount of tracks which are like happy and peaceful godnight jingles in ANY pokemon game, especially the DS Era.
